BENIFITS OF VOLUNTEERING:
DID YOU KNOW? VOLUNTEERING KEEPS YOU HEALTHY!!
One of the better known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteers are often the glue that holds a community together. Its a two way street that can benefit you and your family as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network and boost your social skills. The ICCA always acknowledges its volunteers in many ways and it’s certainly a bonus to add to your list of achievements on your resume.
Many people who have volunteered in the past have expressed how the experience increased ones self confidence, self esteem and general life satisfaction. A sense of accomplishment and staying physically healthy are likely the contributing factors in achieving a positive view of life and future goals.
Volunteering combats depression by negating any social isolation. Volunteering helps one keep in regular contact with others and helps develop a solid support system which in turn helps stress and depression during challenging times.
